The team behind the hugely popular TWRP, TeamWin has finally managed to make their infamous product available for the Nokia 8. This makes the Nokia 8 the first Nokia smartphone to get the update.
The use of TWRP is in the fact that it allows the user to perform many actions which are otherwise permitted on stock Android devices. Some of these include,
– Creating backups of the device and restoring them.
– Flashing of software updates
– Repairing, cleaning, and formatting of partitions
– The option of enabling OTG/ MTP support.
The device with TWRP can have unlocked bootloaders which would enable the user to tweak their devices with a whole bunch of features or even install mods.
The Nokia 8’s only method of bootloader unlocking is getting patched by the August Security Patch, so if the device still hasn’t been updated to the August Patch then you’re in luck, else there is at the moment no visible option of unlocking the bootloader on the Nokia 8, or any other Nokia device.
The following are the features that are currently working after the successful unlocking of the bootloader of the device using the TWRP
– OTG
– MTP
– Logdd/ logcat
– Rebooting
– Image backup/ Flashing
– Wiping/ Formatting data
– Backup/ Restore
– Encryption/ Decryption
– Rebooting
– Adb backup
– Adb sideload
