Samsung has, in a post detailed the July Security Patch, the latest Android Security Patch.
The July 2018 patch includes, like always patches for Google’s underlying Android OS and the Samsung’s custom UI on top.
For the Google’s patches, the Samsung July 2018 patch includes the Android Patch level of 1st July 2018, notable Google sometimes releases the patch twice, once on the first of the month and the other, sometime between 4th- 8th of the Month.
LIke always the patch fixes several vulnerabilities, which include four critical vulnerabilities among several other high and moderate vulnerabilities. One of these, a vulnerability of critical nature would have enabled a remote attacker to use a specially crafted rogue file, and in the context of a privileged process, execute arbitrary code.
For Samsung’s own UI, nine vulnerabilities and exposure item discovered have been patched.
The company would begin the rollout of the patch in the coming days.
If the past pattern is to be observed, the patch would initially rollout to mid-range and budget devices ( a couple of devices of A series initially followed by some from the J Series), and the flagships would follow thereafter.
