Some of the old phone users might get disappointed from January 1, 2019. The Facebook-owned online messaging platform WhatsApp won’t work on some of the phones and models after 31st December 2018. The company has announced the supported device list for the new year and unsupported device list as well. That means all the latest and a required OS version running phones will get the support. But the quite older phones including outdated OS running mobiles won’t be eligible for the newer version of WhatsApp anymore.
WhatsApp won’t work on these phones from 1st January 2019
Last year, WhatsApp also discontinued the support to these device lists including Windows Phone 8.0, BlackBerry OS, and BlackBerry 10 from 31st December 2017. And now the company again has released the unsupported device list for:
- Nokia S40 series
- Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread or older till February 1, 2020
- iOS 7 or older till February 1, 2020

The decision has been taken due to the no longer developers’ support will be available for the mentioned devices or OS platforms in the future. That means the latest WhatsApp versions won’t work properly on these devices. The above-mentioned devices or platforms won’t offer that kind of features upgrade support. The Nokia S40 series device will be completely discontinued for WhatsApp support after December 31, 2018. While the Android devices running V2.3.7 Gingerbread or older version won’t get WhatsApp support after February 1, 2020. Similarly, the iOS 7 or older version running devices won’t also get the support after February 1, 2020.
Minimum Requirements to Run WhatsApp Easily:
- Devices running Android OS 4.0 or above
- Apple devices running iOS 8 or above
- Windows Phone 8.1 or above
