Vivo is the latest Android OEM to release the timeline regarding when would its device owners can expect the update to Android 9.0 Pie.

The Android 9.0 Pie was unveiled by Google last week. Manufacturers and OEM’s have started to release the timeline when their devices would be getting the Android 9.0 Pie update, or rather whether they would be getting the update or not.

Vivo was one of the few manufacturers which gave their users the chance to beta test the Android 9.0 Pie update right even before its official release. Notable, Google had announced that this year apart from their Pixel series of devices, the users of other manufacturers devices were also given a chance to explore the Android 9.0 Pie before its release.

Vivo’s X21UD, also the world’s first commercially produced device within- display fingerprint sensor, was one of those devices.

Vivo has confirmed that it would start the rollout of Android 9.0 Pie to the users from the fourth quarter of 2018. With Vivo X21UD being a part of the Android beta program, it is safe to assume that it would be the first device to get the update.

Vivo, however, hasn’t released the list of devices which would be getting the update.

Vivo announcement comes at a time when other manufacturers have also started unveiling their roadmap regarding Android 9.0 Pie update.

The Android 9.0 Pie update has already been released for the Pixel 2/ 2XL and the original Google Pixel / Pixel XL. Notable, Essential Inc, a Palo Alto-based startup turned heads when it also released the Android Pie update to its consumers just hours after Google released it for Pixel users.
