Now that the latest and the best iteration of the Android, the Android 9.0 Pie is here, manufacturers are releasing the timeline of their update cycle and the devices to which they would be giving the chance of running the latest iteration of the popular mobile OS.
Sony and HTC, two major OEM’s in the Android market have now revealed the devices that they would be providing the latest version of Android to.
HTC has revealed that the U12,+, the U11+, the U11 Life and the U11 would be getting the update. HTC, however, is yet to confirm the timeline of the rollout of the update to these devices. Though it is safe to assume that some of these would start getting the update in fall- 2018 and the rest may very well get the update by Q1 2019.
Sony, on the other hand, has revealed that it would be providing the Android 9.0 Pie update to six devices in its lineup. The Sony devices to get the Android 9.0 Pie update would be the Sony Xperia XZ2, the Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact, the Sony Xperia XZ1, the XZ1 Compact, the XZ Premium and the Xperia XZ2 Premium.
Though Sony has also not revealed any timeline of the rollout of the update to its devices, it is safe to assume that the rollout may begin as early as next month for some devices and the rollout may be entirely completed by November of this year.
The Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium may be the first Sony device to get the Android 9.0 Pie update owing to the fact that it was one of the devices which were a part of the initial rollout of the Android 9.0 Beta program.
