A news, which may however not be a surprise if one follows tech news, HMD Global has reportedly started the rollout of Android 9.0 Pie in India for the Nokia 7 Plus.
If this, is, in fact, true, HMD Global would become the third manufacturer in the world to provide the Android 9.0 update, the other two being Google, Android’s parent company, and the Essential, a company founded by father of Android.
The update comes within one day of Android 9.0 Pie’s rollout from Google.
HMD Global is time and time again proving itself by fulfilling its commitment to providing the latest security feature and OS update to its consumers as soon as possible. And this time they have taken it to a whole new level.
The Nokia 7 Plus was also a part of the initial devices which got the Android 9.0 Pie’s developer preview, which was announced by Google at the I/O 2018. It was also the first time that non- Google devices( Pixel or Nexus ) were getting the first developer preview along with Google’s own devices.
The update weighs 11773MB in size and brings all the features of Android Pie that are currently available like adaptive brightness and battery, recommended apps and actions and iPhone X style gesture-based navigation among others. Furthermore, the changelog reads “ Android 9- Pie powered by AI to make your smartphone smarter, simpler and tailored to you.”
To recall, the Nokia 7 Plus was released by HMD Global at the MWC’ 2018 and was the first Nokia device to have an 18:9 aspect ratio. The device is a part of the Android One lineup, indicating that it would be getting quick updates. The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC and features 4GB of memory and 64GB of storage. A 3,800 mAh battery powers the device.
For imaging, the device includes two sensors at the back, the second one being a telephoto one and a front sensor for selfies. All the three sensors carry Zeiss branding.
The update would be available on other HMD devices soon, with the company already promising that its entire slate of devices would be updated to Android 9.0 Pie, with a bunch of them getting the update this fall.
