Download and Install Android 7.1.1 Nougat Update On Moto Z

Motorola has now started rolling out the Android Nougat 7.1.1 (Blur_Version.26.51.19.griffin.retail.en.US.zip) update to its flagship device from last year, the Moto Z. The update is currently only rolled out to the devices in Hong Kong and Indonesia and it comes with the latest July security patch for Android along with several new features like app shortcuts, rounded icons and improved doze functions.

The update is expected to be rolled out to more countries in the coming week. The OTA update is sized at 1.2 GB and a notification about the update will be received in your device anytime soon. If you have rooted your device or have unlocked your bootloader you might not receive the OTA update.

Steps To Install Android 7.1.1 Nougat update On Moto Z (26.51.19)

[su_label type=”black”]METHOD 1 (USING RECOVERY)[/su_label]

Step 1.Download the Moto Z Nougat 7.1.1 zip file from the link mentioned above and then save it in your device.

Step 2.Turn off your device and then boot it into the recovery mode by pressing “Power + Volume down” to get into bootloader mode and then pressing “Power + Volume up” buttons and selecting recovery option.

Step 3.Once you are in the Recovery mode, select the option ‘apply update from sd card’.

Step 4.Choose the OTA zip file which you downloaded in step 1.

Step 5.Wait for the installation to finish and then reboot your device. Done!!

Step 1.Enable “Developer Option” and “USB Debugging” on your Moto Z

Step 2.Download the ADB and fastboot drivers and install them on your PC.

Step 3.Download the “Nougat 7.1.1” OTA file for Moto Z from the link mentioned above. Copy the zip file to a folder where the adb is installed.

Step 4.Switch off your phone and boot it into the recovery mode.

  • Switch off your Moto Z
  • Once your phone is switched off, press and hold the Power and Volume down buttons at the same time.
  • Once you are in the Recovery mode, release the power and volume down buttons

Step 5.Select the option “Apply Update From ADB”.

Step 6.Connect your phone to a PC via USB cable.

Step 7.Open a Command Window in the Firmware Folder by holding shift and right clicking on your mouse and select open command window here from the menu.

Step 8.Now execute the following commands to ensure a successful connection.

adb devices

And if your device is listed, you are ready to flash the update.

Step 9.Now flash the OTA zip on your Moto Z by entering the following command

adb sideload FileName.zip

Step 10.Wait until the process is completed and reboot your phone.

Your Moto Z should now boot into the latest Nougat 7.1.1 update Firmware
