Samsung has always been the company which has delayed the update process to their phones whenever it comes to version upgrade or security patches but same is not the case anymore. Samsung, ever since the debacle of the Note 7 has started to release timely updates to each and every phone in their lineup be it a mid-ranger or a flagship. The Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini, On7 (2015) and Galaxy S Duos 3 are in no means the latest smartphones from Samsung but they are receiving timely updates as well.

Samsung is rolling out a new firmware update to Galaxy S5 Mini, On7 (2015) and Galaxy S Duos 3. The update installs April security patch and is being released as an OTA. Galaxy S5 Mini is receiving the update as build number G800FXXU1CQD1 while the update is hitting Galaxy S Duos 3 as build number G316HUDDS0AQD1. On the other hand, the 2015 On7 unit is getting the update as build number G600FYXXU1BQC6. The update brings monthly security patch as well as regular bug fixes. It also improves the stability and performance of your Android system. The update being rolled out over the air should be hitting your device soon, if it hasn’t already. To check for the update manually you need to proceed to Settings > About device > System updates.

One thing that we recommend to our readers is that, ensure you have atleast 50% or upwards battery left on your smartphone before starting the update download process. Also make sure you are connected to a stable WiFi network to make sure that the update you installed has been downloaded correctly. One more important thing to do before downloading any update is to take a backup of your data just to secure your data from being lost. Make sure to download the update as it is highly recommended update.
