About The Droid Guru

The Droid Guru is an Android blog. It has published how-to guides, stock firmware downloads, root guides and Android news since March 2017. These days most of what goes up here is about Samsung Galaxy phones and One UI updates.

I’m Dibyajyoti Kabi, and I run the site. Let me tell you who writes here, what we cover and how the guides get checked.

Who runs The Droid Guru?

I’m Dibyajyoti Kabi. I have been writing Android guides since 2020, first at TheCustomDroid and now on SamUpdater and my own blog.

Over the years I’ve written guides for the OnePlus Nord, OnePlus 8T, Samsung Galaxy S20, Realme X2 Pro, ASUS ROG Phone 3, Nokia 8.3 and Google Pixel phones. Now it’s mostly the Samsung Galaxy S and Galaxy A series.

The posts from 2017 to 2019 came from a team of contributors. You’ll see the writer’s name, or The Droid Guru Staff, on each of them.

What does The Droid Guru cover?

Android, with a focus on Samsung. Here’s where to start:

How are the guides checked?

Every date, version and model number in a new post gets checked against an official source first. That means Samsung Newsroom, Samsung’s security bulletins, Samsung support pages or Google’s own Android pages. The source is linked in the post, so you can check it yourself. The full process is in the editorial policy.

When an older guide goes out of date, I update it and change the updated date. If a guide can’t be fixed, for example because the tool or download is gone for good, I take it down instead of leaving a broken page up.

There’s one more thing. Flashing firmware or rooting can wipe your data and may void your warranty. Back up your phone first and always follow the steps for your exact model number.

How can you reach me?

Found something wrong in a guide, or stuck on a step? Send it through the contact page. If you’d like to write for the site, head over to Write For TDG.

You can read how the site handles your data in the privacy policy, and how to report a copyright issue on the DMCA page.

When you write in, tell me your phone’s model number and the software version you’re on. That’s the fastest way for me to help.
