The Google News app seems to be causing too much background mobile data loss in some Android devices due to a bug. The report comes from The Verge online tech blog. However, the Google Play Store now using an extra layer of security so-called “Play Protect” feature, it’s now facing issues with a bug or maybe bugs. Meanwhile, some of the reports mentioned that the issue occurring from a few months.
Google News App Taking Mobile Data Unexpectedly
Recently, Google News app gets an update which offers dark mode theme and some optimizations. The issue is still affecting many users and Google promised that they will fix this bug. But currently, many users are experiencing huge mobile data draining in the background. Even when users turned on “Download via Wi-Fi” option, still the app using mobile data in the background up to 24GB of data.
The users either can disable the app from the background process or uninstall the app for now to save some data and money. Otherwise, if you’re a Wi-Fi only user for most of the time then you can easily turn off the mobile data to protect your data loss. Google has promised to provide an update on November. So we have to wait for the update.
