Google’s Wear OS (formerly ‘Android Wear’) is recently announced globally for the supported smartwatches. However, Google’s Android smartwatches didn’t do that well in comparison to Apple watches. Google never released their own smartwatches but they roll out firmware to other wearable brands. But this time it is rumoured that Google might be working on Pixel smartwatch and it could be launched by the end of this year.
Almost two months ago, the famous reporter Evan Blass twitted on his account that the Google is relatively working on hardware specific Pixel smartwatch along with Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, and second generation Pixel Buds. All of these devices are expected to launch this year from September to October.
The Google Pixel smartwatch could be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 platform. The smartwatch could come in three variants with codenamed as ‘Ling’, ‘Triton’ and ‘Sardine’. These three names are typically Google-like names of sea creatures or fish species, which are called in Germany as ‘Ling’, ‘Conch’ and ‘Sardine’. The Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 platform is the last generation chip which was used in low-range wearables.

Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 platform
This chip is also based on 28nm process and uses quad-core CPU. However, the clock speed frequency is still unknown. The Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 platform features ARM Cortex-A7 architecture coupled with Adreno 304 GPU. Basically it also similar with last generation Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 platform. Only the main highlight of this Snapdragon Wear 3100 platform is the power efficiency with smart power management IC called ‘PMW3100’ through ‘Blackghost’. It is designed for multiple wearable choices like fitness trackers with the small form factor.

Qualcomm Blackghost – Energy Saver
The chip called ‘Qualcomm Blackghost’ may be a direct part of the platform and should run continuously and the primary processor will work actively in the major time. This will definitely improve the battery life and user experience too. Whereas, this chip also allows to respond to voice commands at any time. So, the user can use smartwatch seamlessly without any issue through Google Assistant directly. It manages to perform ‘Always-On’ display feature also. Qualcomm already introduces so many entry-level smartphone chipsets with advanced AI features. So, it is quite expected that they will provide machine learning system in Snapdragon Wear 3100 platform also.
