How To Enable Or Disable App Preview Message On Android

Last year when Google unveiled Google Messenger App – Allo, it also showcased a very handy feature that Android users have been asking for years. The feature is known as App Preview Message. As you are aware of the fact that new Messenger apps are hitting the market almost every day. Some of them come with some really innovative features and win the heart of a lot of users while others perish due to lack of new features and poor marketing.

In such a scenario, it is very obvious that people would be having different types of messenger app on their smartphones. There is literally no way to send messages from one messenger app to the other. To bridge this gap between apps, Google introduced App Preview Message feature.

What Is Google App Preview Message?

With Google App Preview Message feature, any Android or iOS user can message anyone in their contacts using any instant messenger and the receiver does not need to have that particular messenger to read the message sent. They will receive the sent message as a notification from Google Play Services. For the moment, this feature is only applicable on Allo Messenger but Google is in talks third party messenger apps like WhatsApp and others so that the feature can also be accessible to their exclusive users. The receiver will be able to reply to the notification message without even installing any messenger app.

It is important to know that the contact to whom you are sending the message should have Android device but the sender can have Android as well as iOS device. It is obvious because Google App Preview Message is an exclusive feature developed by Google and Google develops all Android operating systems.

Steps To Enable Or Disable App Preview Message on Android

Step 1. Go to the Settings option on your device and inside it, go to Google.

Step 2. Tap on App Preview Messages option and verify your number to activate the feature and receive instant message notifications from any instant messenger app (Only Google Allo Messenger has the feature now but in future, others will also have it).

In case, you want to deactivate the feature, you can go to the same place and tap on Turn Off App Preview Messages. As a matter of fact, you can also select the apps from which you do not want to get messages in notifications when you do not have them installed.
