Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie Finally Gets Android 8.1 Oreo With ZenUI 5.0

Last year Asus has launched their selfie-centric smartphone called Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie with a moderate low-end of specifications. However, the device is good but it was running on Android Nougat at that time. Asus has a very poor firmware update record in terms of the Android and security patch. The company uses their own ZenUI custom skin on their devices and typically they’re not used to of providing monthly or quarterly updates.

Recently, almost five months ago the company released their first ever stock Android device called Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 in India. That device already gets 2-3 times updates regarding bugs fixes and improvements. Their latest Zenfone 5Z also gets a couple of updates and Asus now seems quite active about giving updates to their older devices as well. Back in July, 3 months ago, Asus already provided the Oreo update to Asus Zenfone 3 Max device.

The update is arriving for both ZD553KL and ZB553KL device variants and the announcement made by Asus officially on their forum. The build version is 15.0400.1809.405 and it brings all the latest goodies of Android 8.1 Oreo version with the latest ZenUI 5.0 skin.

The update brings PIP (Picture-in-Picture) mode, autofill API, improved notifications, redesigned Settings, wallpaper slideshow on the lock screen, Smart Screen On, Suggested Apps, Scheduled Charging, Mobile manager, OptiFlex 3.0 for RAM/App optimizations, Game Genie, Twin Apps, Face Unlock, and more.

The update will take around a couple of weeks to arrive all devices. So kindly be patient and if you didn’t get any notification about update then check it manually. Go to Settings > About > System Update and see whether the update is available or not.
