The OnePlus 5T was just released and we already hear details about the next flagship from the company. The following details are no speculation as they were revealed by none other than the CEO, Pete Lau.
During an interview at CES 2018, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau stated that the next OnePlus flagship(which is expected to be called the OnePlus 6) will launch in Q2 2018. He further confirmed that the OnePlus 6 will be powered by the Snapdragon 845 SoC and claimed that “there was no other choice”.
On further questioning on whether a 6T will launch this year, he replied saying that “he isn’t 100 percent sure about whether a second smartphone will launch in 2018”. However, going by the last two years, we do think that the 6T will happen.
Finally this is what Pete Lau had to say regarding partnerships with the telecom carriers in the US: “If the right opportunity and right timing come along, we’ll be very happy to experiment”.
Speaking about the company, it has captured the limelight for quite a while now by launching the Special Star Wars Edition 5T followed by the Lava Red variant. Going by the rumours, the OnePlus 6 will reportedly come with an under-the glass fingerprint scanner apart from the regular SoC and camera improvements. As smartphones enthusiasts, we would like OnePlus to bring stereo speakers and an IP rating to the next smartphone to make it an overall complete package.
