Sony has been one of those OEMs who has never been in the limelight for giving updates to their phones. The reason for this is that the company has been releasing the updates to their phones in a silent manner without much delay. Now, the company has released the latest security patch which is the June security patch to two of their latest smartphones. The Sony Xperia XZ, as well as the X Performance, are getting this update receiving June security patch update Over the Air (OTA).

The new update, which is available for Android 7.1.1 Nougat doesn’t change the Android OS but brings in security and performance improvements. Interestingly, for both phones, the build number of the new update is 41.2.A.7.8. Moreover, as is the case with any security patch, the update takes care of various security vulnerabilities and brings along bug fixes. You can also expect performance and stability improvements from the update. It is advisable to connect to a good Wi-Fi network before downloading the update and further, keep your handset charged as high as 50 percent while installing the update. And, if you haven’t received the update yet, you can check for it manually via device settings. Go to Settings – About – Software updates.

As is the case with all the updates, the company has released the update in a staged rollout manner and the company has advised that the users of the Sony smartphones will receive the update eventually to their phones. However, the update is of utmost importance as the update comes with stability improvements as well as the June security patch which is the latest security patch from Google and the June security patch is also known to fix the various security issues in Android OS as well. Look out for the update and install it as soon as possible.
