The South-Korean technology brand LG hasn’t been consistent in software updates to their devices. Even if you’re a core fan of LG smartphones, you can’t deny the inconsistency in software updates. Even the newer and flagship LG devices have struggled a lot to deliver Android major updates globally (excluding Korea). LG’s UX software is heavily customized for Android UI. Now the company has revealed the roadmap of LG device updates. The LG G7 ThinQ will only get the Android 9 Pie update in Q1 2019.
LG G7 ThinQ will only get the Android 9 Pie update in Q1 2019
However, LG G7 One is the first LG device to receive official Android Pie update. But the device doesn’t run on LG UX, it’s running on stock Android based on Android One platform.
While most of the flagship devices from other brands started rolling out to Android Pie, LG is still stuck on Android Oreo version. The LG G7 ThinQ will be the only one LG UX running device to receive Android Pie in early 2019. While LG G6, LG V40 ThinQ, and LG V30 ThinQ will only get the system improvement and latest security patch updates. If you’re using LG G7 ThinQ handset, you will receive the official Pie update in the first quarter of 2019. But if you’re using any other LG device whether it may be older or newer, just forget about the Android update.
