It’s the end of August and we are enjoying IFA just like every year. Though I was not expecting a major announcement at this time from big players in the smartphone industry. The one from Huawei came as surprise and the company managed to surprise everyone with the Kirin 980 processor, which was announced at the event and is almost confirmed to star in their upcoming Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro smartphone. So, let’s explore what we know about them.
Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro aren’t exactly the best-kept secret rather Huawei showed Mate 20 with Kirin 980 but didn’t exactly unveiled the specs.
But going by looks it is near to identical in design to P20 and P20 pro from earlier this year. The glass sandwich design with runs over a metal frame looks great though same cannot be said about the notch on the top of the display which also makes me complain about it being just a 1080p+ rather than the industry standard of 1440p+ and I wish them to improve in this area as the new chip Kirin 980 is way to powerful and at the same time highly power efficient.
We also expect the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro to retain the camera setup from P20 and P20 Pro respectively as they are one of the highest rated smartphone cameras to the date. even beating Google’s Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL cameras in many use cases that 40 MP main shooter is a beast.
The features also include a 4,200 mAh battery stereo speaker setup and wireless charging support with IP 68 water and dust resistance though we won’t be getting a headphone jack due to waterproofing issue.
