Sony has started rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo update for Xperia XZ. A few weeks ago, it rolled the same update for Xperia XZ Premium. The latest Oreo firmware has the build number of 41.3.A.0.401.
This latest update will bring all the new features of Android Oreo along with certain Xperia specific features. If you have not received the OTA update yet, you can download it manually and flash on your device.
Pre-Requirements
- Remember this Firmware file is only applicable to Xperia XZ. Trying it on another device can brick it.
- You should take a full backup of your device because everything will be wiped out.
- Maintain battery charge at least 60% to prevent accidental shutdown.

Steps To Flash Android 8.0 Oreo 41.3.A.0.401 On Xperia XZ
Step 1. Go to Settings> Developer Option> USB Debugging. If developer option is not enabled, go to Settings> About Phone and tap on the Build Number 7 times.
Step 2. Download Sony Flash Tool on your PC and extract it in Flashtool Folder. Then go to Flashtool folder>Drivers> Flashtool-drivers.exe and install all the drivers Flashtool, Fastboot, and Xperia.
Step 3. Download Android Oreo 8.0 FTF Firmware file on your PC and save it inside Flashtool folder> Firmwares.
Step 4. Open Flashtool.exe and click on Flash Device>Flashmode. Now, you have to browse and select the FTF firmware that you moved to Firmware folder in the previous step.
Step 5. Check the option ‘Wipe Cache, data, apps_log, and userdata’ if you want to install the firmware by cleaning your device. Else, you should uncheck this option and go ahead.
Step 6. Click on OK button and the file will be prepared for the flashing process. This will take some time, so be patient.
Step 7. Once done, you have to connect your Xperia XZ device when prompted. Turn off the phone and press and hold Volume Down key while plugging the data cable into your PC.
Step 8. As soon as the phone is detected, the flashing process will begin. Remember, do not leave the Volume Down Key until flashing is done.
Once the process is completed, leave the volume down key and disconnect your device. Give it a normal reboot and start enjoying the features.
