BlackBerry recently made a comeback to the smartphone industry earlier when the company launched the first Android powered smartphone to launch from the company. Earlier, BlackBerry released the smartphones with BlackBerry OS on top of it. However, with changing times and growing popularity of Android OS, the smartphones from BlackBerry started to lose its market share and eventually the company had to close the smartphone manufacturing. Now, the smartphones that have been coming from the company are launched with Android and the first ever BlackBerry smartphone with Android OS was the DTEK50. This smartphone was launched some years ago and has been receiving updates till now.
Now, we have received reports that the DTEK50 which was launched from the company is getting the August security patch update which is the latest security patch that was released by Google at the beginning of this month. Now, regarding the rollout of the update, the update is arriving as software version AAN493, the update brings August security patch. And as is the case with monthly security patches, the update should also include regular bug fixes and system enhancements. Talking about the other improvements, the device should perform better after the newest update to the smartphone.
As far as the update is concerned, BlackBerry has started to roll out the update as an OTA and all the BlackBerry DTEK50 devices are starting to receive the update in the mean time. The size of the update is a small one which is expected because the update only contains the August security patch but the update is also an important one as the latest security patch brings along with it several security improvements over the previous build which brought July security patch. As soon as you get the update on your smartphone, make sure to install the update OTA to your smartphone.
