Last year Asus has launched their selfie-centric smartphone called Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie with a moderate low-end of specifications. However, the device is good but it was running on Android Nougat at that time. Asus has a very poor firmware update record in terms of the Android and security patch. The company uses their own ZenUI custom skin on their devices and typically they’re not used to of providing monthly or quarterly updates.
Recently, almost five months ago the company released their first ever stock Android device called Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 in India. That device already gets 2-3 times updates regarding bugs fixes and improvements. Their latest Zenfone 5Z also gets a couple of updates and Asus now seems quite active about giving updates to their older devices as well. Back in July, 3 months ago, Asus already provided the Oreo update to Asus Zenfone 3 Max device.
