HMD Global, the new home of Nokia mobiles has sent out invites for the media for an event scheduled on October 4th in the heart of London. The invite says, “inviting to welcome the latest addition to the Nokia smartphone family”.
The event invite contains no other extra clue to guess what the company might have in store for that day. Though the safe guess is to assume that HMD Global may be bringing the Nokia X7 or the Nokia 7.1 Plus, for the international market, out into the wild.
The Nokia 7.1 Plus has had its fair share of leeks over the past few weeks. Even Nokia’s Taiwan page teased the launch of a device that resembles the Nokia 7.1 Plus’s leaked render quite a lot.
Nokia X7 is expected to by the mysterious Nokia ‘Phoenix’ that was spotted on FIH’s page earlier this year. The device is expected to arrive with an octa-core Snapdragon 710 SoC, fabricated using the 10nm process, on board. The device would be sporting a 5.9- inch FullHD+ notched display with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. Once again, HMD Global may be sourcing the camera lenses from Zeiss optics, with the device rumored to carry two back cameras and a single front camera.
There, however, seems to be no indication that HMD Global may be announcing their long-rumored and highly anticipated Penta- lens camera setup housing Nokia 9 also.
HMD Global joins the long list of device manufacturers that have a launch event scheduled in the month October. The events of Google, LG, Microsoft, Samsung, Razer, and Huawei are already scheduled for the month. With so many brands competing for the limelight, HMD Global may truly need to deliver something special, otherwise, their announcement may drown under the five- camera housing LG V40 ThinQ or the third iteration of the Google Pixel series. Perhaps, if the company plans to unveil their Penta- camera housing Nokia 9, it may be able to hog the attention from its competitors or see its device drown in the outpour of the other flagship devices.
