Apple has always been the trend setter when it comes to smartphone hardware. Some companies like Xiaomi even take inspiration from iOS considering how similar MIUI is to iOS. That isn’t looking to change anytime soon as leaked sketches of the Zenfone 5 suggests an iPhone X-ish design. It is also worthy to note that the Huawei P20 Lite render too showcased a similar design.
Coming from WinFuture, key details about the Zenfone 5 have been revealed. Leaked renders of the Zenfone 5 looks exactly similar to the iPhone X with even the notch present up-front. That said however, Asus will not feature any facial recognition technology and go with a rear mounted fingerprint scanner instead.
With no facial technology being used, it is strange as to why a notch will be necessary given the fact that the iPhone X’s notch houses infrared and 3D-depth sensors.
While the display size is unknown, we are rest assured that the panel will an 18:9 tall display with full HD+ resolution. The Zenfone 5 is expected to sport the Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with 4/6GB of RAM coupled with 64/128GB of on-board storage.
As for optics, a vertically placed dual camera setup will make its way on the rear of the phone. For those wondering, the smartphone will keep the 3.5mm headphone jack. The device will run on Android 8.0 Oreo on top of ZenUI.
