Xiaomi has recently released the latest smartphone in its Redmi Note series which is the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. The Redmi Note 4 is the successor to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 which was released last year. Same as the Redmi Note 3, the Redmi Note 4 has been very popular in India and other markets and has been setting sales records for the company. The Redmi Note 4, however, was left out of getting the update to latest version of Android which is Android 7.0 Nougat. Now, this is about to change as the Android 7.0 Nougat update is starting to roll out to the Redmi Note 4 devices from Xiaomi. This update is said to be released by the company to the handsets in the Indian markets.
As far as the update is concerned, the Indian variant of the Redmi Note 4 will receive the update as an OTA on the devices and the update will reach the handsets automatically as it has already been released by the company. Do note that the update is arriving as MIUI 8.5.4.0 and not MIUI 9. It will still take a while for Xiaomi to roll out the MIUI 9 update to Redmi Note 4 handsets in India as it has not yet been released in China as well and the developer ROM for the Chinese variants is set to be released today.
One thing to look for in the update is improvements in terms of security as the update will come with July security patch which was released last month by Google and enhances the device security even more than the previous builds. Make sure to download and install the update as soon as it is available on your phone to get the taste of Android 7.0 Nougat on your device. Also, note that the update will come as MIUI 8.5 update and is around 1.3GB in terms of size
