Back in December, Xiaomi had suggested that the Xiaomi Mi 7 will be the first smartphone to sport the Snapdragon 845 SoC. The Mi 7 was expected to launch during MWC 2018 and that may not be the case. Recent reports have claimed that the company will launch the Mi MiX 2S instead.
Now, the Mi Mix 2S has been spotted on popular benchmarking app Antutu. A device with codenamed ‘polaris’ has paid a visit to Antutu and it is believed to be the Mi Mix 2S, the successor to the Mi Mix 2.
The smartphone has scored an impressive 270461 points on the benchmarking site. Therefore, the chipset is expected to be the Snapdragon 845 SoC, the latest and greatest offering from Qualcomm. It is also worthy to note that the Snapdragon 835 SoC scored 210000 points at max (based on results from the OnePlus 5T).
The Mi Mix series is a special one due to the fact that it was the first one to produced a bezel-free display. The Mi Mix 2S will retain the same body of the Mi Mix 2 and sport a bigger display, thanks to the improvements in the screen to body ratio. Other specifications are unknown at the moment.
Going by the naming scheme, the Mi Mix 2S seems to be more of a refinement and hence the design might not change at all. The Mi 7 which was expected to launch in MWC may instead launch a little later in April. Since the Mi 7 is a flagship offering from Xiaomi, more drastic design improvements are expected.
