After a long time, Xiaomi finally releases Android 9 Pie update to Mi A1 devices. The device is running on Android One platform and was promised by the company to receive at least two major Android updates. The Android Oreo update has rolled out very quickly to this device but this time Xiaomi takes a little bit of time.
As we all know, the Google’s Android One program ensures the users to receive at least two major Android updates and the latest security patch updates for three years. In addition, the Mi A1 is the first-ever Xiaomi device which comes with Android One platform, so Xiaomi should focus on this expectedly.
Xiaomi rolls out Android 9 Pie to
Mi A1
When the device got Android Oreo stable update for the first time, it has so many bugs including battery draining, charging issue, camera performance etc. The company has to stop the roll-out process in early 2018 for this issue. Then the users have to wait for some time to receive the actual stable version. So, this time Xiaomi already took some time to manage all the system improvements.
The latest Android Pie update comes in 1.07 GB in size, which is quite big. The update brings all the native Android Pie system improvements and features. Such as Digital Wellbeing, App Timer, App Slices, Adaptive Battery and Brightness, Redesigned Recent UI, Notification Controls, Quick Settings and Toggles etc.
The update also brings FM Radio support and improved Material Design 2.0 to the system. The Settings menu is now refreshed with colorful icons. However, the update doesn’t include swipe gesture navigation control to Mi A1. It will be currently using Google Pixel Pill Navigation system. If Xiaomi wants, they can include swipe gesture navigation to the system – just like the MIUI skin gesture.
The OTA update is rolling out in other countries firstly but it will soon be available to India as well. It could take a few more weeks to receive the update officially. So please be patient and check manually from the ‘Software Update’ option periodically.
