Lenovo owned Moto series devices are very popular and one of the main reasons is that they get latest software updates from the manufacturer very quickly.Verizon Moto G4 Play has started getting the official NPI26.48-38 Android 7.1.1 Nougat update.
Unlocked version (Global) of Moto G4 Play has received the first Android 7.1.1 Nougat (Soak test) update in June 2017 by Lenovo.The update was available in the Brazil region.After six months of the soak test release, the device received a stable Version of Android Nougat and now Verizon Wireless has started rolling out the same update.
This is a big update.Many bugs from the previous firmware have been fixed.The update brings December 2017 Android security patch and comes with the KRACK vulnerability fix.It also brings improvements to the device’s performance and system stability.
The update comes with build number NPI26.48-38.It’s a big major update so the size of it will be above 1GB, so a stable wifi connection is recommended while downloading the firmware.
You can manually check for the OTA update by going to Settings > About phone.If there is no update notification showing up on your device, then just wait a few more days for the update to come.
Important: Above 50% battery power is recommended while updating to the new OTA firmware update.
