The latest version of Android has been released by Google yesterday in an event held on the eve of Solar Eclipse which was also the first full Solar Eclipse that was seen in the United States after 100 years. The event showcased the name of the next version of Android as well as its statue. The company has revealed that the next version of Android will be called Android 8.0 Oreo. Now, you might be wondering about the new features that are included in the next version of Android so we have created a list of the 10 newest feature included in Android 8.0 Oreo.
1. Auto Fill
Android 8.0 Oreo now has one of the best feature which was available in the Chrome browser for Windows uptil now. The feature is Auto Fill mode which means that the OS will save your Email Address as well as Password or other details and save it to the cloud so that you don’t have to remember the credentials for the next time you use the same app. This is very useful for setting up a new device.
2. Adaptive Icons
The next feature included in Android 8.0 Oreo is the use of Adaptive Icons which means that the smartphone will now have an option to modify the default icons for various applications in many shapes such as squircle, square, rounded and others. This is done to ensure that the icons on different apps are in line with the other apps for uniformity purpose.
3. Updated Emojis
In Android 8.0 Oreo, Google has once again updated the default emojis present in the Android OS to a blob-less emoji version rather than blob version which was seen on Android 7.0 and 7.1.1 Nougat version of Android. This means that the emojis will look much flatter than before but give a dynamic effect at the same time.
4. Notification Dots
Another important feature included in Android 8.0 Oreo is Notification Dots. This feature is same as the one present on Android 7.0 Nougat where the apps can be long pressed on home screen to see the options but this feature is now extended to show notifications of that particular app by long pressing the icon. The users will see a dot on the icon to know that there is a notification for that particular app and check for it by long pressing the icon.
5. Picture in Picture Mode
Picture in Picture mode which is also known as PiP mode is also added to Android 8.0 Oreo. This feature is much easier to use on tablets where we want to have a small portion of any app running on the side and the main app running in full-screen mode. This will be shown in floating window rather than the split-screen feature which covered half of the screen.
6. 2X Faster Boot time
Starting with Android 8.0 Oreo, we will see that the booting time for Android will increase by 2 times then it was seen on Android 7.0 or 7.1 Nougat. This means that if your device was talking 20 seconds to boot up with the lock screen visible to you then it will now take 10 seconds to do so which is a significant improvement.
7. Google Play Protect
Google has marketed Android 8.0 Oreo as faster, smoother and more secure and the aspect which makes it more secure is Google Play Protect. This is added in the Google Play Store and it will be a background service that will check for apps and its usage and data storage permissions and notify users if it is safe to install and use the app.
8. Background Limits
The feature that has been added to Android 8.0 Oreo for lower battery consumption and improving the battery life on the device is Background Limits. This will keep the applications from running in the background or using location services frequently in order to minimize battery drain
9. Custom Downloadable Fonts
This feature is not what it sounds like and you will still not be able to set custom fonts in Stock Android but this feature is for applications that use custom fonts rather than the system fonts. Now, the apps will not be needed to bundle the fonts and they can define the font name and font family in XML file and the font will be downloaded and stored on the device.
10. Improvements in Accessibility Options
In Android 8.0 Oreo, there have been various improvements made to the Accessibility options that are present for use of disabled people or visually-impaired people so that they can use their phones with interactive options like Text-to-speech, magnification and Select to speak.
