Xiaomi has always been well known for making great smartphones in a tight budget. It was a similar story with the Redmi Note 5 Pro as well. The Note 5 Pro is a budget beast with a lot going for it.
It is powered by the Snapdragon 635 SoC coupled with upto 6GB of RAM. The smartphone also comes with minimal bezels, thanks to the 18:9 display and features a dual camera setup at the back along with a massive 4000mAh battery. That said however, many users still do not prefer MIUI as it is a heavy skin on top of Android. Well, that is not an issue anymore!
XDA developer Vasishath has now brought Lineage OS 14.1 support to the Redmi Note 5 Pro. The build is a stock build of Android with no extras whatsoever. While it would have been nice to see the ROM run Android Oreo, it is based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat.
Even though Custom OS ROMS take a while to become a stable build, this ROM seems ready for daily driver duty with no issues discovered. The developer clarifies that features including VoLTE, RIL (Calls, SMS, Data), Fingerprint Scanner, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Camera, Camcorder, Video Playback, AudioSensors, Flash, LED and GPS work on the ROM.
