Samsung Begins Internal Testing for One UI 8 on Galaxy S25 Ultra

Samsung has begun internal testing of One UI 8, based on Android 16, on the Galaxy S25 Ultra in April 2025. The move hints at a July launch at Samsung’s second Unpacked event.

After delays with One UI 7, Samsung fast‑tracked this cycle. The build first appeared on the global model (SM‑S931B) before expanding to the Korean variant (SM‑S938N) with firmware S938NKSU2BYD6, as spotted by PhoneArena and SammyFans. Leaker Tarun Vats confirmed the test builds on Samsung’s servers.

Testing kicks off early

Internal testing expanded this April, roughly two months earlier than usual. Reports suggest development began in February 2025, aiming to align with Google’s Android 16 release.

Where tests are Happening ?

  • Global Units: Early builds appeared on SM‑S931B servers.
  • Korean Units: New S938NKSU2BYD6 firmware for SM‑S938N surfaced in Samsung’s Korean database.
  • U.S. & Europe: Community reports hint at U.S. testing, though official confirmations remain scarce.

What to Expect in One UI 8 ?

One UI 8 brings polished refinements rather than a full redesign. Expected features include:

  • Visual tweaks in quick settings and circled menu icons in Gallery and My Files (SamMobile hands‑on).
  • The Galaxy S25‑exclusive Now Brief summary on older flagships .
  • Smoother animations and gaming boosts via Android 16.
  • Enhanced privacy and security tools inspired by Google’s latest OS.

Early benchmarks on Geekbench show the Snapdragon 8 Elite with 12 GB RAM runs smoothly on One UI 8 builds (SamGuru).

Samsung may open a public beta program soon, possibly after announcing the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, which should ship with One UI 8 out of the box.

If Samsung stays on this accelerated path, Galaxy S24 and S25 owners could see Android 16 and One UI 8 updates in weeks, not months, restoring confidence after One UI 7 delays.
