Reliance launched the 4G operator telecom operations last year in India under the name of Reliance Jio. In the early days for almost 6 months, Reliance Jio offered free data every day to all its customers for no minimum recharge as well as all the phone calls and the messages were also free. Later, the company announced earlier this year that the company will start charging for its services. However, the prices of Reliance Jio have been lowest of all their competitors and the company launched a Rs. 309 offer where the users get 1GB of 4G data every day as well as free phone calls and SMS.
Now, the company is going to launch a feature phone which will be 4G VoLTE compatible as the Reliance Jio operates only on the 4G VoLTE networks in India. However, the more interesting thing is the price of the smartphone at which it is rumored to be launched. As per the rumors, the company is going to launch the new feature phone at a price of Rs. 500 which is less than $9 in the international markets. Talking about some of the specifications of the phone, the phone will come with a 2.4 Inch display with 512 MB of RAM as well as 4GB of internal storage which can be expanded via an SD-card. Apart from that, the 4G phone will have a 2-megapixel camera on the back as well as a VGA camera on the front.
As far as the availability of the phone is concerned, Reliance Jio is betting big on the sales of the phone as the company, reportedly, already ordered 18-20 million units for the handsets with Chinese vendors Like Megaphone, Shenzhen CHINO-E Communication Co, Crave and Zhejiang Techain Electronics Technology Co. Apart from that, Reliance Jio will also announce some even more affordable plans bundled with the phone. The phone, as per rumors will be named as “Jio Lyf Easy” and will be available from Reliance Jio’s official website.
