OnePlus is all set to launch the newest smartphone in its lineup of OnePlus phones. The next phone in the OnePlus lineup will be the OnePlus 5 according to the rumors. This is because OnePlus considers the number 4 unlucky as it is same as the meaning for death in Chinese. Now, we have confirmation that all this is true and OnePlus is indeed to going to launch a new smartphone this year. This smartphone will be named as the OnePlus 5 and not the OnePlus 4 and the reason is exactly the same as we have known and which was rumored earlier.
This announcement has been done by The Verge in a post which the company claims has been revealed exclusively to them by OnePlus. This is indeed true and OnePlus has posted on its Twitter as well as Facebook accounts that this is a true story. According to the post, the OnePlus 5 will be successor to the OnePlus 3/T and that the number 5 will be indeed named due to the reason that the number 4 is considered unlucky in China and also part of the decision is because OnePlus staff is a big fan of NBA star who wears jersey no.5
As per recent leaks, OnePlus 5 will feature a Snapdragon 835 paired with 6GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. There could also be another higher variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. The other features include an impressive 23MP rear camera and a 16MP front camera. It is said to carry 3600 mAh battery with Dash Charge support for quick charging. The phone will be shipped with Android 7.1.1 OS.
If the recent leaks turn out to be true, the OnePlus 5 will turn out to be a very compelling device and the device may well be the best smartphone launched this year from OnePlus.
