HTC has been struggling in the past few years to regain the market share it once enjoyed. Recently, Google even acquired a part of HTC which forced us to think that HTC was on the decline. However, this hasn’t stopped the company from developing newer devices. A new HTC mid-ranger with model number 2Q5W1 has appeared on Geekbench.
This is was first reported by popular tipster Roland Quandt.
New HTC mid-ranger listed on Geekbench… 2Q5Wxxx, running Android 8.0 “Oreo” on a Snapdragon 625 (MSM8953 it says) with 3 GB RAM. https://t.co/CkhNO3IsL4 pic.twitter.com/xZYbUp9eNO

There is no clue as to what this device will be called. It is worthy to note that the U11 Life already comes equipped with a Snapdragon 630 SoC, which is an upgrade over the SD 625. This would mean that this handset may turn out to be a budget offering from HTC.
Another possibility is that this smartphone may succeed the HTC One A9, which came with the SD 617. While the smartphone is expected to carry on with the company’s 3D glass design, HTC may indeed include a standard metal back instead.
It is a good thing that HTC is looking to compete in various price points in an attempt to regain it’s sales numbers. We will keep you posted as we learn more.
