OnePlus 6 is all set to be launched by OnePlus very soon which will become the flagship smartphone from the company for 2018. The OnePlus 6 will also be the first smartphone to be released by OnePlus this year. Last year, OnePlus launched the OnePlus 5 and soon after, the OnePlus 5T was launched which has now become the flagship smartphone from the company for 2017. As far as the OnePlus 5T is concerned, the device was announced with an 18:9 aspect ratio display which came with minimal bezels that were not present on the OnePlus 5.
As far as the OnePlus 6 which will be the next flagship from OnePlus is concerned, this device will come with a ‘notch’ on top of the display which has already been confirmed by the co-founder of OnePlus, Carl Pei. However, the news that the OnePlus 6 will have a Notch has not gone down well with the company’s fans and the company has been trying hard to explain the need for a notch on the next smartphone. In terms of the reasoning given by OnePlus, the company decided to have a display cutout on the OnePlus 6 in order to give as much display as possible on their latest smartphone and the only way to do that was to add a notch for important sensors and front camera.

Now, the founder of OnePlus, Pete Lau, has answered one of the queries regarding the notch on the OnePlus 6 in the OnePlus Forums. Pete Lau has mentioned that the OnePlus 6 will have an option to disable the notch when watching videos or other media with the help of blacking out the status bar area so that the notch does not come in the way. However, Pete Lau has told that this option will be added to the OnePlus 6 via a software update after the phone has been released.
