Huawei Mate 20 and its elder sibling, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro are two of the most anticipated flagships for the latter half of the year. The devices have had their details leaked several times, and from the leaks, it seems Huawei is about to announce something truly worth the wait.
The Huawei Mate 20 and the Mate 20 Pro would be launched on the 16th of October globally, almost a month after the 2018’s iPhone launch event and a couple of weeks after Google’s Pixel devices launch. The invites have started rolling out for the media worldwide, for the event that is scheduled to take place in London.
The event invite confirms, the fact already confirmed several times, that the latest flagship from Huawei would sport them in-house Kirin 980 SoC.
The Kirin 980 SoC was unveiled by Huawei at the IFA 2018 last month and features, among others their 2nd generation AI computation engine. The chip is fabricated using a 7nm process, making them the first commercial chips in the world to be built on that process. Huawei claims that it has managed to increase the performance by 20 percent over its last year Kirin 970. The increase in performance is accompanied by a 40percent increase in the chip’s efficiency.
The launch event’s poster has the words ‘ A HIGHER INTELLIGENCE IS COMING’ written on it with the characters A and I, from Intelligence’ standing apart from others owing to their red colored font, as compared to others white.
Huawei is expected to unveil a competitor to OnePLus’ Dash Charge technology at the event also, with Huawei’s solution expected to have a power output of 40W.
