With HTC One M7 and One M8 receiving LineageOS 15 ROM to get all the features of Android 8.0 Oreo, the silver lining for all the old smartphones of HTC of getting the same custom ROM became prominent. If you own HTC One Max, you can experience the latest features of Android 8.0 Oreo features thanks to LineageOS 15 ROM. Even though the ROM is not officially released, the unofficial works fine with minor bugs here and there. All you have to do is have TWRP recovery installed and then flash LineageOS 15 ROM followed by Android 8.0 ROM.
The features of LineageOS 15 ROM are same as Android 8.0 Oreo which is redesigned UI, picture-in-picture mode, awesome wallpapers, better snoozing and notification options, faster reboot, Google Play Protect for security, Wi-Fi aware feature, and auto fill feature. As far as HTC Oreo update goes, the updates will not be available for One series smartphones as the company has discontinued the series and replaced it with U series. Therefore, the Oreo updates will be released for latest smartphones which will sport a new UI and HTC U11 and U Ultra users will be the first to enjoy it. Those users can expect to receive the OTA update by December 2017.
Pre-Requirements
- The ROM is only applicable for HTC One Max. Do not try on any other device else the device might get bricked.
- You need to have TWRP recovery installed on your HTC One Max.
- Take a complete backup of the device data because everything has to be wiped clean.
- Keep the battery charge to 60% at least to prevent incidental shut down.

Steps To Install LineageOS 15 ROM On HTC One Max
Step 1. Download LineageOS 15 ROM for HTC One Max along with Android 8.0 Oreo GApps on your computer and transfer them to your device’s internal storage.
Step 2. Reboot your device into TWRP recovery. Select Wipe from the TWRP main menu and then Swipe to Factory Reset at the bottom of the screen.
Step 3. Once done, return to TWRP main menu and select Install and then find and select LineageOS Zip file. Swipe to confirm flash.
Step 4. Once the flashing process is over, go back to the main menu and select Wipe cahe/dalvik. Swipe to confirm the wipe at the bottom of the screen.
Step 5. Flash GApps file in the same way as LineageOS Zip file.

Once both the flashing processes are done, give your device a reboot and start experiencing Android 8.0 Oreo.
