OnePlus, in all its smartphones, uses the Oxygen OS which is based on Android. It is a proprietary OS of OnePlus and it offers additional functionalities like gestures and themes. However, the problem with Oxygen OS is that it does not support Stock Android apps. Which means you cannot install the Google dialer or the Contacts app.

Even though the dialer app that comes with the OnePlus 5 works fine, it lacks some of the features that the Google dialer offers. For instance, the Google dialer allows you to answer or decline calls from the notification. Also, the Google contacts is a better choice if you want to backup all of your contacts to the cloud.

So, here is a step by step guide on how to install and use the Google Dialer and Contacts app on your OnePlus5.

Pre-Requirements

Remember that you have to flash a Magisk Module for this to work. This means your OnePlus 5 should be rooted with an unlocked bootloader and a Custom Recovery.

However if you do not want to install the Magisk Module on your device, you could also use a flashable zip file to flash the Google Dialer and Contacts app from your Custom TWRP recovery.

Steps To Get Google Dialer And Contacts On OnePlus 5

Step 1: Check Pre-requirement Section caefully then follow the below steps.

Step 2: If you have the Magisk Module installed on your OnePus 5, download the file above and flash it using your Magisk Manager app.

If you don’t have the Magisk Module installed, download the TWRP flashable zip from the above link and save it on your internal storage.

Step 3: Now boot into the TWRP recovery mode. You can do this by switching off your device and then holding the power and volume down buttons for a few seconds.

Step 4: Once in the recovery mode, click on Install from the main menu.

Step 5: Now browse for the TWRP zip file you downloaded and then select it.

Step 6: Swipe to install it and once the installation is completed wipe your Dalvik and Cache.

Step 7: Reboot your phone now and the Google Dialer and Contacts app will now be installed on your OnePlus5.

You can now disable the old dialer and contacts app by going to into the app info settings.

That’s it. You have now successfully installed the feature rich Google Dialer and the Google Contacts app on your OnePlus 5.
