It is not new that HMD Global, the new home of Nokia branded smartphones may be planning to bring the Nokia 7.1 and the Nokia 8.1 to India sometime before the end of this year. Now, the company has even put up a teaser, through their official Twitter channel, indicating imminent launch of these devices in the country.
The company has posted a video on Twitter, the caption for which reads, ‘Get ready to #ExpectMore’. The video doesn’t reveal which devices the company would be releasing in the country, though it is safe to assume that both of these would be making their landing in the country together. The company is even using the same hashtag, #ExpectMore for their Dubai event of 5th December where at- least 3 Nokia branded smartphones are expected to make their appearance.
The Nokia 7.1 was released in London last month and is yet to make its way to the country. As for the Nokia 8.1, it seems to be the global version of the Nokia X7, which was also released by the company earlier last month as China exclusive device, and is expected to make its global debut at the 5th Dec Dubai event.
The Nokia 7.1 is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC powered device. The highlight of the device is its FullHD+ notched display, which comes with support for HDR10, a technology increasingly finding its usage by streaming platforms like Netflix, YouTube. The Nokia 7.1 is, in fact, the most affordable HDR10 compatible device in the market. Furthermore, the device comes with PixelSense’s chip which would help it to upscale and enhance any SDR content and play it in HDR10 format.
The Nokia 8.1 would be sporting the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC. This device also comes with an HDR10 compatible display, Carl Zeiss powered dual camera setup, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage in the highest configuration.
As of now, there is no information on what pricing HMD Global may be planning to release these devices.
