Yes, it is the renowned Substratum theme engine developed by Sony.
Every smartphone user is blown away by the user interface that Sony provides thanks to Substratum theme engine. You can now avail the same on your device and that too without installing a custom ROM. It will run perfectly on any Android device having Android 6.0 Marshmallow and above.
It also works with custom ROMs perfectly. Recently, XDA developers have released a Substratum theme which has the aesthetic Xperia-styled lockscreen.
Pre-Requirements
- Root is required
- Take a complete backup of your device. Maintain the battery charge percentage at least 60%. Make sure your device is rooted else Substratum will not be able to apply the overlay themes on your Stock Android ROM.

Steps To Install Substratum On Your Android Device
Step 1. Download Substratum app from Play Store. Open it and grant root access.
Step 2. Go to Play Store and search for ‘Substratum themes’ and download a few that you find attractive.
Step 3. Open the app now and select any theme to apply. Select all the overlays that you want to include which are available for the theme. Finally, click on the Install Selected button.
Step 4. If you have stock ROM, you will be asked to reboot to apply the theme. For custom ROM, it will be applied without a reboot.
This is the general process by which you can apply any Substratum theme.
Steps To Install Xperia-styled Substratum Theme
Step 1. Download the theme. It is not available on Play Store and hence, you have to install it from the external source.
Step 2. Open substratum app and the theme must be available. Select all the overlay features and click on Install Selected.
Step 3. Reboot your device when asked and you will see your Android phone’s lockscreen transformed into the amazing Sony Xperia lockscreen.
In case something goes wrong, you can apply another theme or select Default Manager option of the hamburger menu on the top left of the app and tap on Restore System Theme.
