Lenovo Z5 has released back in June 2018 with Android 8 Oreo out-of-the-box. The CEO of the company has announced to release the Android Pie update for Lenovo Z5 soon. Now, the Lenovo has started rolling out Android Pie beta OTA update for the Lenovo Z5 variants in China. The latest ZUI 10.5.221 comes with the optimized ZUI 10 user interface. The update also brings goodies of Android 9 Pie along with 4D U-touch gestures, improved face recognition technology and more.
The latest custom skin of Lenovo, ZUI 10 comes with a few customized option for Home screen layout. The overall user interface looks quite optimized and stable with the new notification panel and gestures. The system improvements included super power saving mode, quick and secure mobile payments etc. While the most interesting feature is the calculation of calories in specific foods via camera (AI).

The device comes with a 6.2-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD display with a resolution of 2246×1080 pixels. Under the hood, the device is powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC coupled with Adreno 509 GPU. It comes with 6GB of RAM and the 64GB/128GB of onboard storage. It sports a dual 16MP + 8MP rear camera setup and a single 8MP selfie shooter on the front. Finally, the device gets Android Pie update which will add more power and features.

The ZUI update is heading to the all Lenovo Z5 Chinese variant devices and will soon be available globally. Currently, the update changelog details are also in the Chinese language. However, it’s a beta update and will have so many bugs or stability issues.
You have to wait for the official Beta/Stable update OTA notification on your device. Still, if you can’t wait for a long to taste the latest Android Pie features, you can check for updates manually on a daily basis.
- Go to Settings > About phone > System updates > check for the updates.
- If it notifies you of the update, tap on download and then select install to update automatically.
