Asus has announced two new budget mid-range smartphones. Both the Asus Zenfone Max Shot and Max Plus M2 phones were unveiled in Brazil yesterday and powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon SiP 1 chip. It’s a new processor developed by the Qualcomm and Universal Scientific Industrial (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (USI) and the Brazillian government. You can say a joint collaboration as well.
Qualcomm Snapdragon SiP 1 Processor
The Qualcomm Snapdragon SiP 1 is a new processor that integrates all the main components into a single package. The SiP full form is System in Package. That means you have the application processor, modem, RF, audio codec, RAM, and storage all in a single package.
The main advantage is that the processor comes in a smaller motherboard size which means thinner devices. While the extra space can be used for a bigger battery or some other components. The RAM and storage can be changed in the Snapdragon SiP.
The specifications are almost the same as Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC. It’s a 14nm octa-core chipset clocked at 1.8GHz with the Adreno 506 GPU.
