Local manufacturer Lava is a company that usually competes in the ultra-budget segment. Now, Lava has launched a rather important smartphone in the Indian market by releasing the Lava Z50. The special aspect about this device is that it runs Android Oreo Go edition which was announced by Google last year.
To recollect, Android Oreo Go is a toned down version of Android Oreo which is optimised to run on low-end smartphone with minimal resources. Google has released apps like Gmail-Go and Files-Go which don’t compromise much on functionality but require very less storage and RAM to function.
The Lava Z50 sports a 4.5 inch FWVGA TFT display with a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels. This is coupled with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of on-board storage which can be expanded upto 64GB via a microSD card.
As for optics, the smartphone comes with a 5MP rear camera with an LED flash backed up by a 5MP selfie shooter which also has an LED flash unit. The smartphone runs on Android Oreo Go Edition and is fuelled by a 2000 mAh battery.
Even though the Lava Z50 is priced at Rs 4,400, it can be purchased for Rs 2,400 via Airtel’s ‘Mera Pehla Smartphone’ program. Apart from this, Lava also provides two years of warranty along with a free one-time screen replacement upto one year after purchase.
