Today Xiaomi has launched two new smartphones called Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro and Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite in China. We will talk about the Mi 8 Lite in this post. The Xiaomi Mi 8 flagship was launched a few months ago and now the two more models of Mi 8 series announced today. The device display comes with a 19:9 aspect ratio with a smaller notch as compared to iPhone X and iPhone XR. This time the company compared the device with newly launched iPhone XR in most of the cases.
Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite Specifications
The Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite comes with a 6.26-inch FHD+ notched 19:9 aspect ratio display with a resolution of 2560×1080 pixels. The device is powered by the octa-core Snapdragon 660 AIE SoC coupled with Adreno 512 GPU. The handset comes in 4GB and 6GB of RAM variant. While the internal storage comes in 64GB and 128GB. The Mi 8 Lite sports a dual 12MP+5MP rear camera with f/1.9 aperture. It features AI Scene Recognition, portrait, HDR, Panorama, PDAF, manual mode etc.
The front features a 24MP AI selfie camera with Sony IMX576 sensor and f/2.2 aperture lens. It has also some AI features like AI Portrait mode, AI Smart Beauty mode etc. The device looks quite similar to Huawei P20 Pro in terms of the color and glass mirror design. The company compared the Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite device with the iPhone XR in terms of the bezels thickness, device thickness, notch size and more. This seems quite annoying that every brand is always focusing on and imitating same as Apple and then compare with their products as well.
The handset is running on MIUI with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. It packed with a 3,350mAh battery with fast charging technology. All other connectivity options like 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C port, and GPS etc. The device comes in Dream Blue, Twilight Gold, and Black color options and this is the first time when any Xiaomi device offering gradient color options.
Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite Price and Availability
The Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite is priced at Yuan 1,399 (approx $204) for the 4GB+64GB variant. The 6GB+64GB and 6GB+128GB models will cost higher. The handset will be available for pre-order from today on September 19 and will start shipping from September 25 in China. There isn’t any confirmation about the Indian launch. The earlier Xiaomi Mi 8 didn’t launch in India region. So, we have to wait for the official announcement.
