Xiaomi has recently released the Mi6 smartphone in China which is the flagship smartphone from the company. This smartphone is also the successor to the last year’s Xiaomi Mi5. However, the Xiaomi Mi6 came with MIUI8 out-of-the-box and not the MIUI9. This started the speculations of whether the MIUI9 will come this year or not. Take note that MIUI is the custom version of Android that comes with all the Xiaomi phones at the launch. The MIUI9 from Xiaomi is expected to be the next big version for all the supported phones.
Now, to not let the speculations and rumors of the MIUI9 become more and more, the company has teased and thus confirmed that the next version of MIUI, which is the MIUI9 is indeed in development. This was done by Xiaomi some days ago on Xiaomi’s MIUI official Weibo page released a teaser poster that talked about the MIUI in the development and which is thought to refer to the upcoming MIUI 9.
Xiaomi MIUI 9Furthermore, the MIUI9’s development status was confirmed in the comments section as the company’s official account replied to a user’s comment on the question of the what are the new things in MIUI9 with a comment that the next version would be more stable, more smooth and more power(ful). Here the boss is referred to by Lei Jun who is the founder of Xiaomi.
Xiaomi MIUI 9Talking more about the MIUI9, we have also received some leaks of the next version of Xiaomi’s custom software via leaked screenshots of its recent screen. Now, one interesting thing in the leaked screenshot is the ability to open multiple tabs from the same app which is not currently possible in either MIUI or stock Android.
Xiaomi MIUI 9One thing to note is that MIUI9 will still be based on Android 7.0 Nougat and come with support for all the devices released by Xiaomi in past couple of years. Also, as the screenshots have been leaked, the MIUI 9 could be coming soon as its development seems to be already in the advanced stages.
