There have been many devices that are currently receiving the May security patch which was released by Google in the early part of May. Among this devices, there is now the addition of the Verizon Moto Z Play and the LG Transpyre. Both the handsets have been getting the update through Verizon network in the U.S and is rolling out via a phased rollout. As a recap, the Moto Z Play was launched in 2016 and the Verizon network has been selling the Moto Z Play on its network as well along with the LG Transpyre.
Arriving with the builds NDN25.137-24.4 and VS810PU9 for the Motorola Moto Z Play and the LG Transpyre respectively, the update installs the May security patch on both these smartphones. Verizon is seeding the update over-the-air for both these handsets. Users of these devices may not receive the update instantly. However, if you are not among the waiting type, you can click on Settings > About Device > System Updates to check for the update manually.
Apart from the fact that the update comes with latest security patch updates which are from May, there is not much details about what is included in the update. As is the case with all the updates, the security patches should be accompanied with the regular bug fixes and stability improvements to the phone.
Also make sure that the phone has been fully charged or atleast has above 80% of juice left when you start to do the update process as the process will take time and the phone has to have some battery left after the update process. Also make sure to backup important data from your phone to any external harddrive or PC just in case the process goes haywire so you would not want to risk your precious data on the device.
