Samsung has been known for sending out updates quickly to their smartphones in recent times after the Galaxy Note 7 debacle. This has been believed to be done in order to win back the trust of its customers as well as its fans after the fiasco with the Note 7. This strategy from Samsung has worked quite well and the Samsung phones have been receiving updates to their phones quickly as well. T-Mobile which is the largest carrier in US is also sending an update to one of the Samsung devices. This device is a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7. The update is a pretty big one as it brings the Nougat update to the tablet.
T-Mobile has released the Nougat update for the Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 bringing the build number to T817TUVU2BQE2. The Nougat update comes in at a hefty size of 1006.80MB, or a little over 1GB, which is the size you’d expect a major Android update to have. The T-Mobile Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 hasn’t had an update since the release of an Android security patch back at the end of February of this year. The Android Nougat update for the Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 brings the features we’ve seen in the Nougat update for all mobile devices: features such as Google’s own split-screen mode (similar to Samsung’s MultiWindow Mode), Doze on the Go for improved battery life, Notification Direct Reply to respond to messages within the Notification Shade, and Bundled Notifications that place same app notifications together. There are other goodies as well, though we can’t detail them all here.
The update being a firmware uddate, make sure to sufficiently charge your device as well as take a backup of your device in order to have a smoother transition to Android 7.0 Nougat from Android 6.0 Marshmallow on your Samsung Galaxy Tab S2
