OnePlus has been always known for delivering devices that are little different than others, be it the launch of OnePlus One with the unique invite system which is totally different from the flash sales that Xiaomi conducts or to the exclusion of NFC on the OnePlus 2 which the company was criticized for. After the OnePlus 2 came the OnePlus 3 and later that year, the OnePlus 3T. Both the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T are nearly identical with the latter having an upgrade in color, front camera and processor and a Rs. 2000 increase in pricing in terms of India.
Now, the OnePlus 3 which was the flagship smartphone of the company is starting to get the latest version of Android which is Android 8.0 Oreo. The latest version of Android was released on 21 of last month and we have already seen lots and lots of custom ROMs for devices ported to Android 8.0 Oreo. However, there was no news about any of the device manufacturers rolling or even testing the next version of Android for their device and now we have our first one. This update comes as a part of OxygenOS and from the leaked screenshots, it is quite visible that it is based on Android 8.0 Oreo.
In terms of the update, the changelog only says that the phone is updated to Android 8.0 Oreo but we have also known that this update is rolling out to a Closed group of users who have the OnePlus 3. This means that the smartphone will have to be in a testing phase with this update and we would not be seeing this exact same update rolling out to the other OnePlus 3 users. This also means, though, that the update to Android 8.0 Oreo is just around the corner and we would not have to wait much for the update to come to the device.
