OnePlus has recently launched their latest flagship smartphone this year which is the OnePlus 5. The smartphone is also the predecessor to the last year’s OnePlus 3/T. As far as the OnePlus 5 is concerned, the special features of the smartphone are its dual camera setup which helps to capture quality images as well as help to get the bokeh effect as seen on some SLR cameras. Now, the OnePlus 5 has been launched in June in India and the smartphone has been selling quite well ever since. The smartphone has also received the latest updates to its smartphone thanks to the team behind OxygenOS.
Now, the company has promised that a new update is coming shortly to the smartphone which will improve the battery life on the OnePlus 5 drastically. A recent report shows that OnePlus 5 will soon receive a major update and This update will come as software version OxygenOS 4.6. To recall, OnePlus 5 came with OxygenOS 4.5 out-of-the-box at launch based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. This report comes from French publication Frandroid which has reported, citing anonymous sources familiar with OnePlus’ update roadmap that the company is working on an update to the smartphone.
Talking further, Frandroid reported that the claims of the increase in the battery life will be done by bringing changes in the OS part that manages the communication between various phone components, better known as the kernel. This can be done when Energy Aware Scheduling (EAS) technology is inserted into the phone’s kernel, the battery life is enhanced. Do note that the same technology has been found on the Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones from Google which did not have massive battery capacity but were able to run for longer times. Through this update, the OnePlus 5 will be able to better manage all the cores and reduce the overload on its battery due to various tasks running in the background. The update’s expected release date has not been revealed yet.
