Nokia has recently released the Nokia branded smartphones which also mark the comeback of the Nokia brand after many years of staying away from the mobile industry. This lineup of smartphones includes the Nokia 3,5 and 6 as well as the Nokia 3310 which is the Classic version of the old Nokia 3310. The devices have been running near stock Android on their phones and the smartphones have been manufactured by HMD Global who has the rights for manufacturing Nokia branded phones. As far as the updates are concerned, the Nokia phones are running the latest Android version, Android 7.1.1 Nougat as well as the June security patch which is also the most recent security patch.
However, we have seen that the July security patch has been released just yesterday and one of the Nokia phones has already started getting the security patch. This smartphone is the highest of the lineup, the Nokia 6. Nokia has rolled out the July security patch to the Nokia 6 (TA-1003) which makes it the first smartphone in the world to get the latest security patch. Yes, the Nokia 6 is the first smartphone before even the Google Pixel phones from Google to get the July security patch on their phones. The update weighs around 149MB in size and is currently hitting the Nokia 6 handsets in Hong Kong and Taiwan only but the update should arrive in the other variants very soon.
As far as the Indian variants are concerned, Nokia has already announced that the Nokia 6 and 5 will be released in the month of July and the Nokia 6 will be sold via flash sale system in the country. So, the Nokia 6 should be getting the update out-of-the-box in India whenever the launch of the phone as well as its sale starts in the country. As far as the update is concerned, the OTA should arrive on your Nokia 6 soon.
