ZTE became hugely popular with the Axon 7. The ZTE Axon 7, which was released in 2016 gained recognition due to top notch specifications coupled with a very reasonable price tag. The company came up with the 7s last year and we now hear about the next flagship smartphone from Axon.
Fresh images of the ZTE Axon 9 have surfaced on Weibo and this gives us a good idea of what to expect. The smartphone looks to be improvising on the design of the Axon 7. As expected, the Axon 9 will sport minimal bezels and a taller AMOLED display. The 18:9 aspect ratio has become more of a requirement this year given the fast adoption rate of smartphone manufacturers.
In spite of tiny bezels, the Axon 9 can be seen flanking capacitive buttons, similar to it’s predecessor. However, the speakers have been moved to the back and this may disappoint many users. This is especially due to the incredible sound quality delivered by the Axon 7.
As for power, expect no less than flagship specifications. The ZTE Axon 9 will come with a Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with 6/8GB of RAM and 64/128/256GB of onboard storage. Leaks also point out that the device may include an embedded fingerprint scanner. However, we recommend you to take this with a grain of salt as it seems highly unlikely at the moment.
As for optics, dual cameras will make its way on either side of the handset. Further details are unknown at the moment.
The ZTE Axon 9 is expected to receive a slight price bump and will reportedly start between $550 and $629.
