Huawei has announced the successor to the last year’s Honor 8 which is the Honor 9. Huawei Honor 9 is the latest flagship from Huawei’s sub-brand Honor. The main talking points of the Huawei Honor 9 are its 6 GB of RAM, dual rear camera setup same as the Honor 8 as well as the device is powered by a Kirin 960 chipset. The handset is available in two variants — one which comes with 64GB and the other with 128GB of onboard storage space. There’s a 4GB RAM variant too.
Talking about the specifications of the phone, the Huawei Honor 9 comes with a dual camera setup where the camera specifications of the phone are 20MP + 12MP. The device sports a 5.15-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) LTPS display offering a pixel density of 428 PPI. Under the hood is the 64-bit Kirin 960 octa-core processor clocked at 2.4GHz and comes coupled with Mali-G71 MP8 GPU. There is also a MicroSD card for further expansion of storage up to 256GB. It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat based EMUI 5.1 out of the box. The device supports dual SIM dual standby using the hybrid slot where the user can either opt for a secondary SIM or MicroSD card. Talking about the dual camera setup on the rear, there is a 20MP Monochrome sensor and a 12MP RGW sensor with f/2.2 aperture, PDAF, Laser autofocus, and dual tone LED flash. As seen on the iPhone 7 Plus and Xiaomi Mi 6, the Honor 9 can also capture photos with the 2X lossless zoom which the company calls as hybrid zoom.
The device also offers Hi-Fi audio output with the AKM audio chip and the in-house Huawei hinsten audio processing technology. Coming to pricing, the Honor 9 with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage is priced at 2299 Yuan (approx $339 / Rs. 22,000), whereas the 6GB RAM variant with 64GB and 128GB of storage costs 2699 Yuan (approx $399 / Rs. 25,500) and 2999 Yuan (approx $439 / Rs. 28,500) respectively.
